Message from the Race Director
"Hi and congratulations to all who participated in the the events last Sunday to commemorate opening of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing. It was a tough run with a few hills and, despite wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour, all managed to finish and you should all be proud of your efforts.
We usually have a results link out by now, however we have experienced some technical issues with timing equipment and there may be some issues with the results. We have individually verified the top three male and female participants across the four events and congratulate the following:
Unfortunately a number of the winners could not stay around for the presentations and we will be contacting them to arrange collection/delivery of their trophies.
Thankyou for your support of the event, no matter what event you participated in, it will be a personal best that stands forever as walkers/runners are very unlikely to be permitted on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing ever again.
Good luck with your future running endeavours and thankyou again for your support.
Race Director"
Celebrate on Sunday the 8th of September for the opening of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.
Toowoomba Road Runners will be hosting a once in a lifetime event with the opportunity to run on the new billion dollar Toowoomba Second Range Crossing.
On offer is a 42km marathon, a 21km half marathon, 10km run or a 5km fun run.
The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing will be open to the 4 running events on the day.
The start and finish for all 4 events will be next to the Mort Street entrance to the Second Range Crossing.
Marathon
The Marathon will start at 6 am. Runners will head east 13.3 km across the viaduct and down towards the Lockyer valley turn point. There is 3.5% - 6 % gradient ascending back to Mt Kynoch and past the start line. Runners will continue west for another 7.6 km towards the 2nd turn point just before the Warrego off-ramp before heading back to the finish line.
Roger Guard Half-Marathon
The Roger Guard Half-Marathon will start at 7 am running 5.25 km east, across the viaduct before the turn point making their way back along a 3.5% - 6 % gradient uphill and down from Mt Kynoch and past the start line. Runners will continue west for another 5.25 km towards the 2nd turn point before heading back to the finish line.
10km Race
The 10km race will start at 7:30 am running 5km east across the viaduct before the turn point making their way along a 6 degree gradient uphill and down from Mt Kynoch to the finish line.
5km Fun Run
The 5km fun run will start at 8:00 am running/walking 2.5km east to the viaduct before the turn point on the viaduct and back to the finish line. There is no age limit for the event as we are aware that many families will want to walk or run the course together. For insurance purposes, children over 3 who intend participating in the 5km Fun Run event, either walking or running, must do so under the supervision of their parent or an adult guardian.
Children 3 years and under, being pushed in a pram and accompanied by a registered adult do not need to register to participate in the 5km Fun Run.
